SALSA & MAMBO
Salsa & mambo: start with steps that listen to the music
If you picture only fast-spinning dances, the first steps may surprise you. Discuss salsa and mambo classes that repeat small steps to music while exploring your own timing and your partner's movement.
Class & program enquiries ↗Check the style, even within the same dance name
People looking for salsa or mambo may have very different music and dance styles in mind. Tell us whether you want to learn choreography seen in a video or explore spontaneous dancing with a partner, so the discussion has a clearer direction.
If you have learned before, also tell us the timing system or style you know. Rather than trying to match movement names across different approaches, identifying what you can comfortably do now and where you get stuck will help you choose a class.
Get comfortable with the basic steps before turning
For beginners, practising small steps beneath the body while keeping time can be more useful than taking large strides. Clapping to the music or shifting your weight in place can help you find rhythms you missed while concentrating only on the order of your feet.
In partner practice, moving when you are both ready comes before the number of turns. Rather than pulling or pushing with tense arms, check the handhold and a comfortable distance. Communicating with your partner and practising stops are also part of dancing.
Preparing to enjoy social dance
At your first social dance, it is fine to repeat the basics you already know. Respecting each other's wishes when inviting someone to dance or asking for a break, and judging space to avoid bumping into others, matter as much as complex patterns.
When enquiring, include whether you plan to attend alone or with someone, your previous experience and your reason for learning. We will check salsa and mambo classes and private lesson availability at your preferred location in Jamsil–Songpa, Seocho or Seodaemun.
Check your preferred location and schedule
Tell us your preferred location—Jamsil–Songpa ART SPACE, Seocho ART CENTER or Seodaemun ART HALL—and available days and times. Class arrangements, instructor schedules and fees are provided after consultation.

I want to join alone. Do I need to bring a partner?
Simply tell us that you plan to attend alone. We will check whether the format requires a partner or can begin with individual fundamentals, along with the current teaching arrangements.
Can I start salsa after learning bachata?
You can discuss available classes. However, it is better to learn salsa's timing and foundations afresh rather than assuming its rhythm and basic movements are the same. Tell us how long you studied and which movements you know.
I am worried about getting dizzy when turning. Do I have to do lots of turns?
You do not need to aim for many turns from the start. Discuss a format beginning with basic steps and listening to the music. If turning causes discomfort, mention it in advance so we can agree on the scope of practice.
