Sports Seoul 2011 Best Innovation – Dancesport category
Dancesport is becoming increasingly widespread as a form of recreational sport. In this setting, SWAY DANCE (director Ryu Geon-hu, 02-543-8979, www.swaydance.co.kr), which pursues accessible education and works to broaden dance culture, is attracting attention. Located beside Exit 5 of Cheongdam Station in Gangnam-gu, SWAY DANCE is described as one of Korea's leading dance education institutions. Ryu Geon-hu built his reputation over 12 years as a dancesport competitor, winning numerous competitions. He offers premium dance education through a well-equipped learning environment, leading instructors and distinctive, tailored programs. SWAY DANCE, established as a prominent name in dancesport, also promotes a dance party culture featuring performances by members and instructors. Ryu, who holds a master's degree in musical theatre from Chung-Ang University, has also shown his versatility as a choreographer and performer in 'Good Morning President' and 'As Much as Heaven and Earth'. “Dancesport also has significance as a physical art,” he said. “I will work to raise its profile and encourage its development.”
